Artist's Description

The Rio Grande Gorge is a geological feature in northern New Mexico where the water of the Rio Grande flows South to the Gulf of Mexico. The gorge depth is 800 feet just south of the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Geologically, the Rio Grande Gorge is a canyon, carved out by water erosion over the last several million years. Wildlife of the area include bighorn sheep, mule deer, bobcats, river otters, golden eagles, bald eagles, coyotes and various water fowl, to name a few. The gorge and 242,500 acres was designated a National Monument, Rio Grande del Norte National Monument, on March 25, 2013 by President Obama.

About Britt Runyon

Britt Runyon

I am a New Mexico based Adventure Riding/Rafting/SCUBA Outdoor Digital Photographer, always on the qui vive for what Nature and humans provide. Capturing an image in my camera is but the first step in an artistic process. That initial bit of information then can pass through countless permutations before being declared complete. The journey from capture to completion is a lawless territory.
